Mohammad Asaduzzaman
Founder & Director, Asad Horticulture
Mohammad Asaduzzaman is a visionary Bangladeshi farmer-entrepreneur whose journey from humble beginnings in Bangladesh to building a thriving kiwifruit enterprise in New Zealand is an inspiring story of resilience, hard work, and global ambition.
Born and raised in a farming community in Bangladesh, Asad grew up deeply connected to the land but also witnessed the struggles of farmers battling climate challenges and limited profitability. Determined to make a difference, he pursued his dream abroad and eventually settled in New Zealand’s Bay of Plenty region, renowned for its fertile soil and world-class kiwifruit industry.
Seven years ago, Asad took a bold step by purchasing his first orchard, laying the foundation for what is now Asad Horticulture. Through vision, determination, and continuous learning, he expanded the business into three orchards (Asad 1, 2, and 3), employing 50 skilled workers and supplying premium kiwifruits to both international markets (Europe, North America, Asia) and local New Zealand consumers.
Asad’s leadership goes beyond farming. Under his guidance, the company diversified into agricultural machinery imports (Atlantic Tractors) and specialized horticultural spraying services (Spray Master Ltd), creating a complete agribusiness ecosystem.
Today, Mohammad Asaduzzaman is recognized as:
A model for sustainable farming practices in New Zealand.
A champion of immigrant entrepreneurship, inspiring the Bangladeshi diaspora and beyond.
A community leader, supporting over 50 families through employment and training.
A global exporter, whose kiwifruits proudly represent New Zealand’s horticultural excellence.
His story has been featured internationally, including in The Daily Star’s article “Farmer and Pilot”, highlighting his resilience and success.
Driven by a vision to blend tradition with innovation, Asad continues to expand his enterprises, promote sustainability, and mentor the next generation of farmers.
